That Day Left in the Sea at Yulpo Beach

Yulpo Solbat Beach — A Day of Swimming in the Sea and Relaxing in a Green Tea Seawater Bath

Many people visit Boseong just for its green tea plantations. But Boseong also has a sea. Yulpo Solbat Beach, facing Deungnyangman Bay, has shallow waters, gentle waves, and a pine forest behind its white sand beach that provides shade. And within walking distance from the beach, there is the Green Tea Seawater Bath, said to be unique in the nation.

The sequence is to play to your heart's content in the sea, wash off the salty water, and then soak your body in a bath of heated seawater infused with green tea. This combination distinguishes Yulpo from other beaches. The opening date for 2026 is July 11th, and it will operate for 44 days, closing on August 23rd.

2. Why Yulpo? — Shallow, Calm, and Shady

There are three reasons why Yulpo is consistently chosen by family visitors.

The water is shallow. Located inside Deungnyangman Bay, the waves are not strong, and the water gradually deepens. It's a beach where parents with children don't have to stay constantly on edge.

Jellyfish nets are installed across all swimming areas. They will be installed in all sections to coincide with the 2026 opening. Jellyfish are a real hazard at summer beaches, and the perceived difference between places where this is managed and where it isn't is significant.

There is a pine forest. The pine forest behind the white sand beach creates shade. On a midsummer beach, shade isn't just about saving money on parasols; it's about whether you can endure a few more hours in the midday sun.

3. Green Tea Seawater Bath — The Real Reason for This Trip

The Boseong Seawater Green Tea Center near the beach is a facility that adds green tea to heated seawater baths. It's conveniently located for a visit after swimming at the beach, and most importantly, it's open year-round from early morning.

You can take advantage of the 6 AM opening time. The hottest period at a midsummer beach is from 11 AM to 4 PM, so it's actually more comfortable to swim early in the morning, escape the heat in the baths and indoors during the day, and then return to the sea as the sun begins to set.

4. One-Day Itinerary

TimeSchedule
8-11 AMSwimming. The sun is still bearable
12 PMLunch. Restaurants in the Hoecheon-myeon area
1-3 PMSeawater Green Tea Center. Spend the hottest hours indoors
3-5 PMBoseong Green Tea Plantations or Korea Tea Museum
After 6 PMBack to the beach. Sunset over Deungnyangman Bay

The strength of a Boseong trip is that you can combine the green tea plantations and the sea into one day. Both locations are within the Hoecheon-Boseong-eup axis, so travel is not long.

5. How to Get There

Yulpo is not particularly easy to access by public transportation alone. You need to travel from Boseong-eup towards Hoecheon-myeon, and to combine the beach, Seawater Green Tea Center, and green tea plantations in one day, a car is practically necessary.

  • By Car: From Boseong-eup towards Hoecheon-myeon. The address is 24 Uam-gil, Hoecheon-myeon.
  • Parking: Parking facilities for the beach itself are not specified in official guides. For parking plans during peak season, it's safer to confirm with Boseong-gun Tourism Information (061-850-5448) before your visit.
  • Public Transportation: Take a local bus from Boseong-eup towards Hoecheon. Service is not frequent, so check the return schedule beforehand.

6. Things to Know in Summer

  • There are no lifeguards outside the opening period. Before July 11th or after August 23rd, swimming may be restricted or managed with limitations.
  • Jellyfish nets are limited to the swimming areas. Do not go outside the designated zones.
  • The sunset is beautiful. The sun sets over Deungnyangman Bay. We recommend staying until evening rather than leaving right after swimming.
  • The Green Tea Seawater Bath is best right after swimming. Washing off the saltiness and finishing with a warm bath greatly reduces fatigue.
