The cheapest way to beat Seoul's summer heat sits right on the Han River. In 2026, the riverside open-air pools and water-play areas open on June 19 and run through August 30 — about two and a half months. Skip the long drive: one subway ride gets you to a refreshing dip in the Han.

Six Spots Open This Summer

This year two pools and four water-play areas — six in all — are open. (The Jamwon pool is closed for renovation this year.)

  • Ttukseom Pool — A flagship pool with both adult and toddler areas, next to wide lawns. Great for families.
  • Yeouido Pool — A city pool with a skyline backdrop and the easiest subway access.
  • Jamsil Water-Play Area — A shallow, natural-style area that's safe for young children.
  • Gwangnaru Water-Play Area — At the river's eastern end; usually less crowded.
  • Yanghwa Water-Play Area — Handy from the Hapjeong/Dangsan area.
  • Nanji Water-Play Area — Pair it with the campground and Noeul Park for a full day out.

Admission

  • Pool — child ₩3,000 · youth ₩4,000 · adult ₩5,000
  • Water-play — child ₩1,000 · youth ₩2,000 · adult ₩3,000
  • Under 6 free

Fees are in line with recent years; check the official notice for exact prices and last-entry times before you go.

Night Swimming

The Han River pools are at their best after dark. Select pools run night sessions from early July, letting you swim under the city lights with a cool river breeze. Note that the Gwangnaru and Yanghwa water-play areas have no night hours and close at 6 p.m. Night start dates and closing times vary by site, so check the official Hangang notice before visiting.

Tips Worth Knowing

  • It's busiest right after opening and at night. For a calmer visit, aim for a weekday morning or late afternoon.
  • Bring your own gear. Life-vest and tube rentals vary by site.
  • Rain may suspend operations — check the forecast before heading out.
  • Combine your swim with a riverside walk or bike ride, or a nearby attraction, for a full day.
