Bukchon Hanok Village — Hanok Alive in Every Alley

On the hill between Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung, Bukchon is a 600-year-old residential quarter. Its charm is walking alleys of hanok where people still live, looking down over the city beyond tiled roofs.

Season by season

  • 🌸 Spring — flowers over the walls and warm alleys
  • ☀️ Summer — shaded narrow lanes; early hours recommended
  • 🍁 Autumn — the peak, tiled roofs blending with foliage
  • ❄️ Winter — snow-covered tiled roofs, the most Korean of scenes

What to see

  • Bukchon's 8 Views — eight photo spots the village designates
  • Workshops & galleries — traditional craft experiences and hanbok rental
  • Gahoe-dong alleys — the most famous hanok-ridge view

Nearby

The Samcheong-dong cafe street, Insadong, and Gyeongbokgung are all within walking distance.

Photo tips

The downhill alley at 11 Gahoe-dong is the signature shot. It's a residence — shoot quietly in the early morning.
