Ryujin (RYUJIN) — From Mixnine #1 to Actress Shin Ryu-jin

ITZY's main rapper · main dancer. Real name Shin Ryu-jin, born April 17, 2001. She is a member who shows both a seemingly relaxed expression and precise movements on stage, and was called a 'monster trainee' even before her debut. Since late 2025, she has also made a name for herself as an actress, taking on leading roles in independent films under her real name, Shin Ryu-jin.

Casting and Trainee Days

She was street-cast by a JYP representative at a GOT7 fan meeting when she was a middle school student. It's as if she joined the company while attending as a fan.

In 2017, before her debut, she first gained recognition on various screens as a trainee. She appeared in the BTS <LOVE YOURSELF> Highlight Reel, as an extra in the movie "The King", and later with ITZY members in the first episode of Mnet's "Stray Kids," which chronicled the formation of her labelmates Stray Kids.

Mixnine — #1 from Start to Finish

In the 2017 JTBC survival show "Mixnine," Ryujin never relinquished her #1 ranking among female contestants throughout the broadcast. Maintaining the #1 spot from the start to the final episode, a 'wire-to-wire' victory is a rare feat even in audition programs. Although the female team did not secure a debut spot in the final showdown and thus she did not debut through this program, her performances and recognition at the time led to the moniker 'Mixnine #1 Ryujin' upon ITZY's debut.

Stage Style — Relaxed Precision

Ryujin's dancing is characterized by precise timing, even without grand, sweeping movements. Her expression appears nonchalant, yet she sharply finishes her movements, making her stand out even in the same choreography. Her low-pitched rap often takes on sections that shift the mood of a song.

In November 2021, she was selected as 'Artist of the Month' by dance channel STUDIO CHOOM and presented a performance of Billie Eilish's <Therefore I Am>. It is considered a representative video showcasing her dancing skills through a solo stage, rather than group choreography. Solo Song <Run Away>

On December 22, 2023, the music video for <Run Away> was released as a pre-release solo song from ITZY's eighth mini-album "BORN TO BE". It is a modern rock song centered around the electric guitar, and Ryujin directly participated in writing the lyrics and composition. The lyrics contain the message of becoming a villain herself to give the other person the courage to leave, and the music video, which transitions from pushing objects off a table to laughing while looking in a mirror, then crying, was produced like a film. As a work that showed emotional acting different from her girl crush image on stage, it is sometimes interpreted as a preview of her future acting career.

Actress Shin Ryu-jin — "Night on Earth" and "Shaving"

In November 2025, it was announced that Shin Ryu-jin, using her real name, would star in the independent film "Night on Earth" (directed by Jung Soo-hyun). Set in a society thrown into chaos by the emergence of mutated jellyfish, the story follows a young man hiding in a bathtub who meets people at an illegal clinic called 'Manbok Pension' and begins to re-examine his life. Ryujin played the role of 'Kang', an employee at Manbok Pension, and filming had already been completed. Director Jung Soo-hyun received the BH Entertainment Award for this work at the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival in 2025.

Subsequently, she also took on a leading role (as Mina) in director Kim Jung-hoon's film "Shaving". As she is building her acting career alongside group activities, this page will be updated with release schedules when they become available.

Ryujin Off Stage — Pictorials and Donations

• May 2023 Attended the Gucci 2024 Cruise Collection show held at Gyeongbokgung Palace as a guest.
• April 2023 · April 2025 Vogue Korea pictorial. In 2025, she collaborated with Tom Ford Beauty.
• March 2025 Collaborated on the Ralph Lauren Tokyo MLB event.
• Donations: Donated 50 million won for Gangwon forest fire damage recovery in April 2022, and 50 million won for Turkey-Syria earthquake relief in February 2023, becoming a member of The Promise's Honors Club, a relief organization.

2025~2026 — ITZY After Contract Renewal

In 2025, all ITZY members renewed their contracts with JYP. The title track <Tunnel Vision> from their eleventh mini-album "TUNNEL VISION" (November 10, 2025), their first album after contract renewal, is a dance song with a hip-hop-based beat and brass, earning them their first music show win after renewal on KBS "Music Bank" on November 21. This was followed by a world tour of the same name, "TUNNEL VISION," and <Motto> activities in 2026, with Ryujin balancing group activities and two films.
