Gamcheon Culture Village — Busan's Colorful Hillside Town

In Busan's Saha-gu, brightly colored houses climb the hillside like steps. Once home to Korean War refugees, it was reborn as an art village. Murals, small galleries, and cafes hide in every narrow alley.

Season by season

  • 🌸 Spring — mild weather makes the village's pastel colors brightest. Ideal for alley walking.
  • ☀️ Summer — colors are vivid in the sun, but the hills get hot — early or late afternoon is best.
  • 🍁 Autumn — clear, cool weather. Views out to the sea are at their sharpest.
  • ❄️ Winter — Busan stays relatively mild even in winter, the quietest season to wander.

Highlights

  • Stepped colorful houses — bright homes covering the slope.
  • Alley murals and sculptures — photo spots like "The Little Prince and the Fox."
  • Viewpoints — spots looking out over Busan's sea beyond the village.

Nearby

Jagalchi Market, the Songdo Marine Cable Car, and Busan Port are close. Gamcheon + Jagalchi + Nampo-dong makes a full day in Busan's old downtown.

Photo tips

Grab a map at the information center near the entrance so you don't miss the photo spots. Alleys are narrow and steep — comfortable shoes recommended.
